Ivory Wave

2022 Black overo colt (Ivory Keys x Queen's Wave)
Ivory Wave

This colt is absolutely spectacular.  He not only has perfect frame overo coloring, he is a true black, and has the most gentle disposition we have had in 30 years of breeding. He acts like a labrador retriever instead of a stud colt!

His sire is the tall IVORY KEYS.  His sire is Risque Remarque. Risque's sire is by Sonny’s Solo Halo (unraced) by Halo. Halo is the sire of Sunny’s Halo ($1,247,791), and Preakness and Kentucky Derby winner Sunday Silence ($4,968,554). Sonny’s Solo Halo is out of Softly, the winner of $112,568 who has produced 100% winners to runners. Ellusive Quest’s racing career was cut due to the untimely death of his brother Racey Remarque. In a short race career Ellusive Quest ran fourth in his first career start, and had the fastest time out of 27 racehorses for official work at Turf Paradise as a three-year-old.

IVORY WAVE'S dam is the incredibly powerful and extravagant mover, Queen's Wave, who sold for $37,000 as a yearling and had a brilliant racing start before injury took her off the track. Her sire was at stud for $20,000, and ranks as one of the greatest sires in California history with an amazing 7 consecutive earnings championships and the All Time Turf Sire record.

Coloured thoroughbreds, although rare, are not new. Overo thoroughbreds were documented to have occurred as early as the 1700s. An oil painting from 1790, which hangs in the Walker Art Gallery, in Liverpool, shows a coloured racehorse, King of Trumps, owned by King George III.

His maternal brother, FINE PRINT, is approved for breeding with the Westfalen Verband.  He is a hunter and a dressage champion.

His other maternal brother, FRAMED IN BLACK, is also winning over fences and his owner and his trainer are thrilled with him.
